My New Year's Resolution

I've bounced back and forth over whether to post this publicly or not.

Obviously, I've decided to do so.

My new year's resolution is the following:
Start being financially responsible.
This means the following:
A) Make a Budget. Stick to it.
B) Be better about paying everything on time.
C) Work on paying down my various debts.

I'll memory this and, hopefully, in a year from now I'll be able to look at this post again and say how I was financially responsible and how I worked towards actually getting on top of my financial issues.

I have one piece of advice, that I found has really worked for Josh and I. Make a list of all bills that have to be paid each month and their due dates. At the bottom, leave a column for savings. Each month you can check off what you've paid and keep track of what you've saved. This helps two-fold. First, you never forget a payment. Second, you feel accomplished when you get to see all the check marks :)

A little declaration to the can always help when making resolutions. Afterall i tend to make a new batch or twig mine every few months.

Mine this year is including the budget. Im going to have to nut out what i need to pay off etc and what I need to save but I have a cool little excel spreadsheet that I used this year and last year to help me.

The last biut of advice that someone recently has given me when i was talking about all my goal setting is this 10% save, 20% debts, and 70% living (thats including your bills)
