It seems to me that the line of thought behind all of this is: by sending out our help and whatnot to other countries in their times of crises makes them beholden to us at a future date. It's something this administration can hold over the heads of others when 'we' decide that we need something in return for all our generous and out-of-the-goodness-of-our-hearts rhetoric bullshit we heap on them. If we dared accept the help of others, that would make us beholden to them *GASP*. And of course, we can't have that... not the great and all encompassing super power that we are!

But that's just my opinion...

We gave help during the Tsunami, now this is quote unquote our tsunami. Why shouldn't we accept help? God knows we COULD ALWAYS use more hands.

Oh I agree completely that it's bullshit. My comment above was highly sarcastic. I guess I should have made that more obvious. I think it's a shame that we aren't accepting the help that these victims need.
