Random Thoughts and Undulations
This is probably going to be another long post. To spare your friends page, I shall hide my ramblings behind an lj-cut tag
Valentine's Day is tommorow. It's one of those things I'd prefer not to think about, otherwise I'll probably get depressed. Another Valentine's Day passes by and no Valentine. :P
Still... maybe next year, huh?
Anyways, if I seem a little depressed today or tommorow, this is probably why.
In other FunYay news, my friend Dave has suffered another loss in the family: this time his grandfather. The funeral is today at 12:30, but I can't skip class again today (I have GIS from 12-1) since I skipped it Monday to get the new dishwasher... and the company STILL hasn't taken the old one away!
Did I tell you about that?
The old one was full of water.. which is how we knew it had died.. the water simply wasn't draining. So they said, Monday, we can't lift this out.. all that water is too heavy.
Fine, so we empty it Monday night and call them up Tuesday to take it today. But I called today and they probably aren't coming.
And meanwhile, Mom STILL hasn't gotten her laundry done...
I suspect Josh and I may end up trying to move it tonite so she can do laundry.
More FunYay news... I tripped on the damn treadmill again today. I'm OK.. less damage this time: a few scratches and scrapes, but nothing too bad...
The thing is... we were JUST OUT yesterday and I KNEW I needed new shoelaces, because these are getting.. worn.
Now it's too cold today to wanna go out.. but i REALLY need new shoelaces.
Maybe mom has something.
Did you know it's like 17 or 18 degrees outside? Talk about bone-chilling. Ugh. I hope we don't all get another round of colds in Buffalo. I really do.
Next semi-random thought... ummm... I want to thank all my friends who showed their support last night in response to Stebe's post. Thanks.
Someone, a few weeks back, I won't say who, suggested that my problems with Stebe stem from the fact that, personality-wise, we're too similiar. At first, I was angry and stunned at the thought, but along the past few weeks, I'm not sure I can disagree. He's hardly my mirror image, personality-wise... but in certain instances... I dunno.. I think there's a more than passing similarity. Maybe this is half the problem.
Then again, maybe not.
The little one (Bandit) has become QUITE the handful. I dunno why, but he keeps playing with both my be-socked feet and his toy at the same time and he has SHARP teeth and SHARP nails. Nnngnn. It's a good thing he's cute, because I'd never let him get away with this otherwise.
Actually, Bandit felt the brunt of my anger this morning, as it were. I'm not sure WHY, but he's trying to eat the plastic tree (I wonder if he's teething), so I pick up my squirt gun and *squirt* right in the side of his neck.
Faster than you can say "Onomotapeia", he's gone.
At least there's still ONE cat in our house afraid of the squirt gun!
I'm going to go see Fiddler on the Roof friday. I'm less thrilled than you might think, though. Fiddler on the Roof is an OK musical, but hardly my favorite (which bounces back and forth, but is Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat 9/10s of the time) and I'm going with my dad and, worse than that, my stepmom.
Actually, my dad is in good with me, at the moment. He's been.. I dunno.. good.. at least to me.
Elaine is still, however, the bitch from hell and I'll never understand what her problem is.
So the plan is... be home by 4:00 on Friday (in general, no problem), go downtown and have dinner with Dad, Elaine and possibly (i'm not sure, but i thought i heard so) friends of theirs. Then Josh and I have our own seats and Dad and Elaine go their own way and they drive us home.
So, for the price of time spent and possibly agitation, I get a free dinner and a show... and Josh's undying appreciation... well.. until he gets annoyed at me again (Josh really WANTS to see Fiddler. It *IS* his favorite musical. But he didn't wanna go alone because Elaine and Dad together can tagteam him and be real jerks.)
In news of other field trips, I've got one tommorow.. to Letchworth State Park, for a class. If you've never heard of it (and I imagine most of you have not), it's a camping and hiking ground about a half hour from Rochester (and
dawnstar). It's a BEAUTIFUL PARK with a gorge running right through it and... I forget which river running over three waterfalls and into the gorge.
We're working in there as part of a design class, finding out whether the surface water directly affects the ground water (which is the park's main water source) and, if so, designing alternatives to keep the ground water clean.
So we go down at 11:00.. it'll take an hour and a half to get there, so we'll eat in the van... work there for three hours, deploying sensors and such... and come back with a couple boxes of pizza which they're sending home with us (they WERE gonna feed us lunch, but we have classes till 11:00 and need to be back by 5:00, so... we'll eat it on the way back! )
This is... slightly more exciting.
I'll probably write about it soon.
Finally got my taxes down. I used telefile. Assuming I used it correctly, I should get near $600 back. YAY! :) (OK, for those of you making the BIG Money, $600 is the most I've ever gotten back.. so NYEH!)... now to wait until I GET it.
I *THINK* That's all I really gotta say.
This is probably a long enough post anyways. I can already hear
kareila's comments in my mind about "THREE Big Posts?!?! Is this going to be a habit?!?!"
Time to post!
