OMG!! 4 Weeks! *superexcited*

On June 2, Sims 3 will be out in our local stories. I am, as of you've no guessed, a bit excited about this. :)
I've been playing The Sims since 'Livin' Large' came out back in 2000. I love the storytelling aspect of the game. I love setting my sims up and seeing how they react, and how they want to react on their own.
The Sims 2 really allowed the characters a chance to begin to have a life of their own. With randomly chosen lifetime aspirations and partially random wants and fears and some more free will, the Sims started to have a life of their own.
The Sims 3 looks like it wants to fulfill that promise. The game will now be allowing most of the Sims to play their own lives out, without your intervention. This will be done via some pretty complicated AI. Characters now have up to five character traits (out of a bank of over 60 of them) and they'll act out behaviors related to that trait.
Each iteration has sought to be significantly better than the others. For The Sims 2, they added three dimensional Sims, Wants and Fears and multi-generational. The Sims 3 will include.. most of that (tossing aside Wants and Fears, but the rest stays), for a game that tells a story better. Less time micromanaging your Sims needs (OK, I need to get him out to work in an hour. So.. let's make him pee first, then shower, then get some leftovers from the fridge.)
So, yes.. I'm really excited about Sims 3. I could probably talk about it the whole month. But I'll try not to. :)
Today's amusing Sims 3 Fact: Snob Sims can imply that your mother is a Llama.

On one hand, there'll be no more "Grandma is actually younger than her Grandson" since I've been playing Grandson, but not Grandma...
But, you lose a certain amount of control.
For me, I'm really looking forward to it. I want a fresh challenge.
My last game, the one I played for like a month, I started to do five generational challenges, all in the same neighborhood. I wanted to see this neighborhood get populated by the families of these generations, but... after a while, I ran out of challenges.
I love the 'Rags to Riches' challenge. The one that says 'OK, you're a single person. You have $20,000. Without cheating, how comfortable can you make your house?' and the answer is, inevitably within a generation, pretty comfortable. It got boring and dull.
I'd try other challenges. I tried to make one family be the tourists and tour all the vacation spots and do everything, and there were glitches in the game that made that near impossible.
And so I'd go back to these families and I'd be like "I don't know what to do with you. You've succeeded! What do I do with you now?"
I like the option of being able to work around a whole community. I'll probably eventually have a really busy city, with all sorts of people with all sorts of personalities and each with their own challenges.
And I like the option of saying "OK, you've succeeded. I'm happy for you. I'm going to let you live your life out now and deal with someone else for a while."
But... we'll see. I THINK it'll work out great, and it'll be great watching the community itself grow and live without our having to micromanage EVERYTHING!
