Two Weeks, From Different Perspectives
Sep. 22nd, 2002 09:39 amPast:
It's really been a week since I wrote any sort of real entry at all. Mostly, it's just that I've A) Been busy and B) Haven't been up to much besides being business.
But for you LITE-watchers out there who wanna know what I've been up to, I'll give you the week in review.
I've been up to a couple of things. First off, my thesis. Dr. DePinto, one of the professors on my board who WAS a UB professor a few years ago but works in Ann Arbor, Michigan now, for a private company, was in Friday. He is the author of the LOTOX model I'm working with. Dr. Depinto, Dr. Atkinson and I discussed ways to go forward and I'll be back at it Monday.
In other words, I finally sorted through and tried to catch up on my Twisted Tunes. Twisted Tunes, for those not in the know, are parodies created by Bob Rivers usually mocking current events and new songs. There are still about 50 songs I haven't been able to find on mp3 yet, but I'm still trying. :)
That leads me to the other rather obvious thing I've been up to this week, putting music into the new Nomad Jukebox. I've thrown in all the TMBG songs I have, most of the BnL, all the Fruvous, all the Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Arrogant Worms etc. Still putting in Bob Rivers tunes and 80s hits.
I've been roleplaying too. Roleplay occurs every Saturday at 5:15 or so. Unfortunately, very few of us seem to show up. Hell, I made something like 500 or 600 XP for just being one of the two people to show up yesterday. Not that I mind, I'm finally a Level 2 Character instead of a Level 1 Character.
Actually, yesterday was most amusing. My character is an oriental shapeshifter wizard, a CAT wizard shapeshifter. Now last week, I kept trying to use this one spell, basically an elemental explosion. The problem was, I OOC chose my spots badly. Very badly. So I kept knocking my party members out. They were OOC most amused but IC most UNAMUSED by this. So they kept picking on the poor kitty, despite the fact that yesterday, his aim was MUCH better.
Anyways, what was REALLY amusing is that my character and another shapeshifter, a weasel shapeshifter had metal to sell... so we got to the market... except by then we were lost. So he says "It's this way." and I say "No, it isn't. It's THIS way." And start walking... the wrong way. Long story short, I end up walking through the mines and realize it's too dark to see as a human, so I turn into a cat and try to look around. Still lost, I head back the way I came, but miss the bridge.. and end up swimming in the lake. After swimming frantically, I end up in the public baths where a little dwarven girl decides I would make a WONDERFUL pet. I hightail it out of there to be caught in a burlap sack. Long story short, I end up the pet of the only "lady of the night" in town... but she has catnip, so it's ALL GOOD for two days.. until she comes back the third day to say that business was bad so there's no food. I pop human and say "What do you mean no food?!?!?!"
Just for that scene, the roleplay was worth it. :D
The other major thing I've been up to this week is working with Jean and Samuela to put the finishing touches on our presentation for WEFTEC in a week. The presentation itself seems to be pretty good, but we have one issue, it's about 5 or 6 minutes too long. The issue is that we have so much to present, describing how we found that Letchworth State Park water is ground water under the direct influence of surface water and also how we designed a selection of alternatives to get treated water to the residents of LSP. So it is difficult to be able to figure out what to take out when so much of it is important.
And that leads me to the week ahead,
In one week from now, I'll be in Chicago at WEFTEC exploring the exhibition area with over 850 exhibitors (I can only imagine the amount of crap I'll be taking home today. I love taking crap home :D. I dunno why, but I love tsotchkes. Perhaps because it was always something my father would bring home for Marc and me back in the day. It doesn't matter.
Next Sunday will be the design competition, Monday I hope to be pulled aside and interviewed on the spot for a job. One can only hope :)
In other news, Sims: Unleashed comes out sometime this week.. Monday or Tuesday. I'll probably go looking for it Tuesday. I want my Sims to have Kitties and Puppies. Yes, I do :D
Besides my thesis, that's it.
So... I'll probably post later, after the Bills Win again (I hope), preferably in the allotted four quarters instead of in overtime.
Ciao folksies!
