Time for a real entry?
Jun. 10th, 2002 06:10 amI've got a few minutes, so I'll try to update y'all with what I've been up to.
Today is officially the first day of the Great Lakes Summer Institute. We had a really nice dinner (tho, note to self... Vodka + LITE = Nono. I still tasted that shit a few hours later :p ) at Harry's Harbor Place, right on Lake Erie and got to meet each other.
Today and tommorow, I guess, we're supposed to go up to the mouth of Lake Ontario and do various sorts of sampling. Not sure exactly what yet, but I'll find out.
It's gonna be a looooong day. First off, I slept terribly last night. Half, I suspect, out of excitement and half out of bloody warm and humid weather. Then I have to leave here at 7:00 to be downtown (near Buff State) at 7:30. Then off we go to Niagara Falls.
Should be back in Buffalo, they promise, by 6:00 or so. Then off I go back to UB to work on the presentation me, Jean and Samuela are giving in Rochester. Talking to Jean last night, I guess we're going to just restart it from scratch. That's not a problem. It really wasn't a GREAT presentation. We have alot of work ahead of us for THAT anyways.
Other things? Well, just as
xb95 refound the joys of rolling down hills lately, I refound an old joy of myself: puzzles. I'd been thinking of getting a puzzle again for a WHILE now, but I was always worried (rightfully) that the cats would be a serious pester and possibly knock things around. So I found this green roll up "pad" to put the puzzle on. The puzzle rests on that and as long as I can stop the cats from jumping up on the table I'm using (a white "desk" next to my computer) and from dragging the green mat down, the puzzle's pretty safe. Also, I can roll the puzzle up in the matt while I'm away from the desk, which... is good.
So, I got my first puzzle in a long time.. a Photomosaic puzzle of a man in space made of little pictures gleaned from the NASA archives.
You can see what the puzzle looks like here. Spiffy, eh?
I've so enjoyed doing THIS puzzle, that I even went and ordered a new one (hopefully to be shipped to me by the time the weekend rolls around), the Kitten puzzle. I might get a 1,000 piece puzzle (the one of the wolf, maybe, as well. :)
Did I mention I really was enjoying these puzzles?
Not much else really going on in my life, at the moment. Puzzle, GLSI and Rochester. That's about it. :)
Hasta Luego, mi amigos y amigas.
