hkellick: Pittsburgh, City of Bridges (Default)
It's been a busy two weeks and I really did want to talk about them, but I've been far too busy at work to post something as long as I felt was needed and spent most of my home time relaxing in front of video games or with Kristen.

So be it. Alot of what I had to say wasn't good, just unhappy stuff.

So I wanna take a minute to talk about today, in part because I haven't posted in over a week and partly because I just wanna remember.

Went back to the Renn Fest today with Kristen, her friend Rachel, Rachel's boyfriend Ricky and friend Jen and [livejournal.com profile] verticalface was around, but I personally never saw her.
After our first trip to the Maryland Rennaisance Festival over a month ago, I had some very specific things I wanted to do and see: I wanted to see Hack and Slash, I wanted to see some amusing comedy shows, I wasn't as interested as browsing from shop to shop as Kristen had been last time. So I came into the Renn Faire with a plan.

Got there, after a really messy traffic jam (bloody Octoberfest. There were at LEAST twice as many people there as last time we went) and the first thing we did was wait for Rachel, who had gotten in just after us, went right up to the front and gotten tickets.
Inside, we immediately split up. Kristen, Rachel and Rachel's friends were considering going from store to store, but I wanted real food and to go see the Davinci Brothers show at 2:00.
I end up finding a store that sells honey in a straw, flavored honey and various wax items, and pick up some honey candy and six honey in a straw. (Sadly, I end up losing four someday over the day, possibly while taking two out to eat then and there. Luckily, I came back later for six more, two of which go to Kristen so I still have four.)
The "real food" I settled on was a turkey leg, which ended up being slightly (Ok, very... to the point that it was difficult to get through the skin to eat the actual meat underneath) overdone.
The Davinci Brothers show was great, though. A real hooter. He ("DaVinci's Brother 'Bob' did a show called 'Go, Figaro!' which left me rolling in the aisles.)
From there, more food and on to see Shakespeare's Skum do "Henry the "V" which was probably funnier than The DaVinci Brothers.
Then, Kristen, myself and Rachel and company were all supposed to meet at the jousting ring to see 'Human Chess'. I half-ran there, but.. well, duh.. I got there and I couldn't find Kristen, Rachel et. al, but the jousting ring was pretty big (duh), so they could have been anywhere in the audience. I sit through the show and, frankly, it was pretty bad. Call Kristen right after and she was hiding in the shade. The sun was too much for her.
So we get together and go to find Rachel and friends who are seeing Shakespeare's Skum doing "Richard III: Just Misunderstood", which was amusing, but as we got there ten mintues late, there were NO Seats and we could hardly hear them. Pity. What I did see was cool, though.
At 5:00 (it's about 4:30 now, after the Shakespeare Skum show), I want to see Hack and Slash and Kristen would like to go too. But Rachel and company don't wanna, so we don't really hang with them, which kinda bugs me. This is the first thing I'm really doing with Kristen. I did not much with Rachel and never even saw [livejournal.com profile] verticalface, though she was there.
Hack and Slash was good, though and I enjoyed it thoroughly. From there, we took pictures of each other, Kristen in her garb and me in my jester's cap (did I mention I got a new jester's cap? This one doesn't light up, but it's got bells! So nifty! :D ), then Kristen runs off to see the Rouges and I wander around the faire by myself for another hour, a little bothered that I spent most of the faire by myself.
I stumble into Jack Rackham & The Pyrates Royale doing Pub Songs at the White Stag Inn, which was rousing in a different way, since some were funny, some were sweet and others were.. rousing. Maybe next year when Kristen goes to see the Rogues, I'll get my arse over there to see the whole thing.
From there, I go to meet Kristen at the Rogues show, just before they end, since it's getting dark and I didn't want to be seperated in the dark. We head over to the exit, get out and Rachel calls. We offer to wait for her to say goodbye properly, but after fifteen minutes, we give up and assume she maybe left and we never saw her (there were some pretty thick waves of people leaving)
And we go home, and I admit that while I DID have a good time, I definately want someone else to come with ME next time so I'm not doing everything alone. Whether it be Kristen or someone else.

I'm thinking it might be neat next year to invite those of y'all to come down. I wanted to host another party anyways (though this is more of a fall thing than a summer thing) next year.. and, hell, depending on timing, it could be a moving in/renn faire party since 11 months from now we'll be seriously looking into getting a place together (assuming we're still together, but at this point, I'll assume that.)

So.. that was my day. It was fun :) Lotsa neat shows :)

Ciao folks.

And don't worry if you haven't heard from me. I'm not dead, just really busy.
