Did you see Beautiful Mind? He really deserved it. Of course, he didn't get it. He got it for Gladiator last year, which was definitely inferior... and Denzel Washington gets it for Training Day, when he blew that performance away in the Hurricane two years earlier? Gotta love the Oscars. :P
Anyway... I kinda know what you mean, not necessarily with respect to Russell Crowe (who is just too damn fine), but I stopped liking Kenneth Branagh after he ditched Emma for Helena. I would say I stopped liking Tom after he ditched Nicole for Penelope, but I never really liked Tom to begin with. :)
