Would you like Freedom Fries with that?

It was amusing, if terrible, when the little southern restaraunt decided that since the French were such Bad People (tm) that they would serve Freedom Fries instead of French Fries.
But when our own government adopts the policy, I remain utterly disgusted.
But then, I'm disgusted already.
I'm disgusted with America.
I've never been more disgusted in all my life.
I've accepted the role Big Brother Business plays in our life.
I've accepted living in an age of terrorism and that there are terrorists all over the world who, due to our own foreign policy, hate us specifically.
I've accepted living in a country where pop culture is usually trashy, where society *IS* to blame, where the media sensationalizes EVERYTHING, where people tiptoe over each other's gender, race, sexuality and religious beliefs and where alot less is tolerated than we pretend.
I've accepted all this because, by and large, America was always one of the best countries to live in. The freedoms we enjoy, that we take for granted.. the freedom to speak, to believe in whatever religion you like, the freedoms of press (even in their excesses).
More to the point, for this tirade.. by and large, we were in the moral right.
We have some points in our history to not be proud of... Salem Witch Trials, what we did to the American Indians, what we did to ANYONE accused of being a Commie.
It's difficult to believe that we don't learn from these things, but I look around at the world I inhabit now.. and we don't.
Welcome, ladies and gentleman, to the 2000s. Just like the 50s, but in this digital age, it's alot easier to root out the UnAmericans... those not in the "moral majority".
Chances are you are all UnAmerican.
You must be.
I'm UnAmerican and you all, by and large, agree with my sentiments, so you, therefore are too.
Already I suspect the FBI has a file on me... and all of you too. The things I've said publicly, online... here, on Chaotic, on The Sims Online.
How long, do you suppose, before I find myself blacklisted for my viewpoints?
My mom is actually quite afraid of this. And it pains me to accept it, but I can't disagree.
It's like listening to a bad record, skipping over and over again.
The record plays it's music, music of hate and destruction.
Hate Iraqis.
Hate Muslims.
Hate French.
How long until they start asking us to hate those like you and me, the UnAmericans?
I'm sitting here, a fairly bright individual looking at the past.
How can the US be a part of this?
Everything I see says that the POPULACE of the US does NOT wanna do this.
Gas prices are rising... not because Saudi Arabia is producing last gas, but because WE'RE worried about the consequences.
The economy is slipping into recession, possibly worse than the recession we had last summer during all the business scandals.
No one I know is FOR the war in Iraq.
Now even our own lifelong allies are abandoning us.
France is dead set against us.
Russia opposes us.
Canada will not fight.
And I guess YESTERDAY Rumsfeld leaked that the UK may not even fight with us.
And yet we march blithely on, Americans across the world singing patriotic songs and supporting our troops overseas.
It's all so much bullshit.
I DON'T support the war overseas.
I DON'T support the way George W. Bush is running our country.
I DON'T support making the UN irrelevent for the 21st century.
I DON'T support the US bullying countries who need our aid to assist them in Iraq and to vote for them in the Security Council.
We are not on the moral high ground anymore.
We are not RIGHT.
We aren't FREEING Iraq, we're conquering it.
And I've listened to Bush...
You people overseas... France, especially.. you should be careful.
Because if you aren't with us, you're against us.
Yes, I'm UnAmerican. I'm proud of it! I'll shout it to any FBI, to any Secret Service, to President Bush himself.
I DO NOT support the US in these endeavors.
I DO NOT support the US under Herr Bush's rule.
Color me Angry.
Color me UnAmerican.
But don't color me stupid enough to fall for a need for first strike policy, a need to bully nations into supporting us..
That's not what the USA is supposed to be about.
Edit: And while I'm at it... if there is a JudeoChristian god, would you PLEASE explain to Bush that GOOD Christians who believe in you do not act like this? Please? Thanks.
