Interesting set of questions/thoughts
Is it piracy if you get songs from an album you're going to buy in two days anyways?
If it is piracy, is it really that bad? Again, especially given that you were actually going to buy the album in two days anyways?
I'm sure for anyone who keeps even half an eye on this journal, this entry is totally transparent.
It should surprise none that I belong to a Weird Al Bulletin Board. Some of the people on the board managed to get their CDs already (due to being DJs or what not) and are freely distributing *1* song off the album to anyone who wants. (As yet, I've not taken up on this offer, if for no other reason than that Bermuda Schwartz himself moderates that board often enough.)
And of course, SOMEONE had to get all moral and bitch people out for blatant piracy.
And... well... that seems silly.
I mean, let's look at the facts.
1) Chances are High to VERY High that everyone who bothered to sign up to the Weird Al Bulletin Board will, at one point or another, get the new album. If not everyone, than a large majority.
2) Those people who have the album are not giving the entire album out. Just *1* song (though, admittedly, people could share resources). But let's get to another point.
3) In a matter of a couple of days, all those songs will be on Kazaa. (Personally, I won't share my songs. I'll just stick them in my mp3 collection, but won't openly share them.)
I dunno. It all seems a little silly to me.
