OK, so I'm a little behind the time, but more for myself (when I do my "2004 in review" post)..

I've gotten new music and haven't posted about it at all.

Two weeks ago, when I went to Buffalo for Yom Kippur, we went off to Media Play and I got the new Chumbawamba album, "Un". I know that some of y'all will mock me or not understand how I can possibly be a Chumbawamba fan, but I'd like to say first and foremost than Chumbawamba is a great deal more than the bloody radio hit led you to believe. Chumbawamba is intelligent, politically aware (a great deal more so than I) and they write catchy electro-pop.
"Un" is possibly the best album they've come out with since "Tubthumper", musically, and better politically.
Musically, the album is catchy, rather more ethnic (alot of the music sounds very to completely latin american) than I'm used to, but, in general amusing. The topics of the song range from the two biggest inventions of Finland (Molotov Cocktails and Linux), Conspiracy Theorists, a gentlemen who attacked a statue of Margaret Thatcher, How the US and Castro are, in combination, screwing Cuba, how American soldiers destroyed and sold Iraqi culture during the war on terror, throwing pies at famous people like Bill Gates, Columbine and the effect Bullies had on it, Buy Nothing Day (an actual "Day" in England, I gather) and the Creator of the first Loop.
My favorite songs, as so far, are "On Ebay", and "Everything You Know Is Wrong".

The other new CD I got (Just got Saturday), is the new Cake CD, "Pressure Chief".
I don't know if I think "Pressure Chief" is their best. It's a little bit more downtempo then their last album. Some of the songs are fairly tight. Others could have used some tightening up before being released. The music isn't bad, but some of the songs are fairly unmemorable.
Don't get me wrong. I like the album. It's just that in the wake of how especially good "Un" was, "Pressure Chief" didn't make as big a splash. :)
There are a couple of good songs on the album, though. I especially, at the moment, like "Take It All Away" and "Carbon Monoxide".
So.. yeah. New music from good bands = yay :)

Time to post and await a phone call from my dork.
If possible, expect another post soon. I want to talk about this weekened.
