So the Fleetwood Mac Concert is tonight. K and I had gotten tickets to
the Fleetwood Mac concert as a Birthday/Christmas Gift for Ms. K last
year. We're both pretty big fans and we think this will be a blast
(plus, we get to say "Fleetwood Mac? Yeah, we've seen them live."
... even if Christine McVie won't be there. :/ Which we're not sure
she will (I hope so!)

It's funny. I can't help but think how amused mom might have been. My
musical tastes STARTED with my mom tastes (though diverged so much
from there.) My mom was the perennial soft rocker. She loved Billy
Joel and Elton John. She especially loved Neil Diamond. She even liked
Barry Manilow.
I never did care much for Neil Diamond or Barry Manilow, but I did
fall in with Billy Joel and Elton John.

Alot of the music I grew up listening to, bands like TMBG and BnL and
Fruvous, I know she never really cared for. Not to say there was
anything intrinsically WRONG with it (not like Marc and his rap. My
mom HATED Rap.), but it wasn't her teabag.

We never really discussed it, but I imagine my mom and I could come to
an agreement on bands like Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles, though. Maybe
not her all-time favorite bands, but I imagine we could have agreed
that they did good music.

The thing is.. we never really did talk about it. By the time I
started getting into Classic Rock, we had other things to talk about.
Mom was already really sick and I was just getting ready to head out
and move to DC, which definitely changed the conversation some.

I'm mentioning my mother because in alot of ways, I think I owe my
love of Classic Rock to her. I'm not sure which part, deep inside your
brain, decides what music you do or do not like. But I know when I
think of Classic Rock, and finding that alot of the songs I've fallen
in love with.. from The Eagles and The Who and what not... I can't
help but connect it to the first time I listened to "Uptown Girl" and
thought that was one of the greatest songs ever (which.. it is! And I
dare you to say otherwise!)

This is going to be a great show. :) I'm very excited. :)
