The Long and Winding Drive

hkellickSo, yeah.. I'm in the hotel. The drive was long and boring, but I got in safe.
A few annoyances on the way...
Somewhere around Carlisle, PA I pulled onto some random exit because I thought the batteries in my CD player had died. It ended up being that the latest burn of the Road Mix CD was fundamentally flawed in some way where the CD player couldn't read any song between John Linnell's Maine and Taproot's Poem (lotta songs there), possibly more without stopping about a minute in and not being able to read it. I'm gonna get a CD player cleaner and see if I can clean out the CD Burner in the computer and the portable MP3 CD player and see if I can get it to work again.
Got turned around between 81 South and 83 South. I finally figured that out, but lost half an hour to an hour there.
Then I got lost again trying to get from the 695 to the 1, finally found the 1, but wasn't sure if I was going the right way. So I stopped to ask for directions. Parked the car at some liquor store, go in and get the answer.. come out.. and... I can't get the car out of Park.
Call AAA frantically and they send someone and ask if it should be towed since it's probably the transmission. Eeek! Panic! Panic! So I say yeah.. and then call home and tell mom what's going on, fairly frantic. Josh suggests checking the wheel and I do.. and manage to lock the wheel so that the car doesn't star. Narr.
The guy gets here and he unlocks the wheel and offers to tow the car to a guy he knows. He calls the guy to see if that's cool and the guy suggests a trick to get the car started (turn the key two notches, put it into neutral, then start the car in neutral and put it in drive or reverse. It works.), so I'm back on the road.
Have trouble finding the hotel, but finally find it... get in and find out.. A) the cell phone doesn't actually work inside the hotel at all and B) More importantly, PBS&J never paid for the hotel room. So I run out to the nearest M&T bank and get money out.. and then pay for one night. I'll have to call them tommorow and get them to fax over the proper paperwork.. otherwise.. I have a problem. But most likely, this is just a dumb mistake on their part.
So I paid the girl, got most of my stuff into the apartment, including the computer (obviously), called mom, dad and Kristen and gave mom and kristen the hotel number so they can call me here. Called for dinner (I'll go shopping tommorow). Then I hooked the computer up, got set up with AOL and spent about 45 mintues or an hour talking to various people on AIM and ate dinner.
Now I'm feeling tired. So I'll work on unloading some more stuff and maybe head to bed in the near future. Hoping Kristen calls soon since I miss her terribly. I miss everyone at home.. my mom, my cats, Kristen.. even, to some extent, Josh.
So.. the plan tommorow is.. tommorow I want to start looking at apartments and I need to get my car to Ford and I want to go shopping. Dunno what order this will all be done in, but it all needs to be done.
Will probably be around tommorow night, probably after sundown, since I'm not comfortable driving around in the dark in an area I don't really know yet.
