I am American.
I am not responsible for my own actions. I am not responsible for my own stupidity. It is not my fault that I'm fat, lazy and unable to understand a simply butterfly ballot. When things don't go my way, I absolve myself of any personal liability and seek instead to sue others.
I am American.
I am uneducated, intolerant and stupid.
I don't even know basic American History.
We can afford to bail out Amtrak 4 times and keep subsidizing American business
But, somehow, the money still can't be found to afford most of our children decent education.
I am American.
Pettiness runs deeply in my veins.
I'll go on rants and rant for days at a time on how it's OK to pirate music, movie and software, despite the fact that I know it's wrong as I do it. Or, on the other side, I'll go on for days at a time explaining how it makes perfect sense for me to sell a CD for $20 that any yokel with the internet can burn for $1.
Compromise is above and beyond me.
I am American.
Evil is my middle name.
Whole laws are created year after year to govern the way I act, I think and I behave.
I can't follow the Golden Rule, do unto others as ye would have done unto yourself.
After all, why bother to follow the Golden Rule when I can get money and power at the expense of others?
I am American.
Cruelty comes easily to me.
From the casual cruelty of hating fat people and gay people and all the people who are not like me
to the cruelty I cause in the name of being right.
I support the killing of 10 innocent afghans for every one Al-Qaeda or Taliban we get.
After all, this is war.
And you started it.
I am American.
I'll wave my flag in your face and accuse anyone who doesn't think like me of being unamerican.
I care deeply for anything that affects me, personally.
But I can't bother to find out what's going on overseas.
I don't even know the name of the Prime Minister of Canada.
I am American.
Please nuke the hell out of me.
I deserve it.

It's just...
Nyerr (http://www.cnn.com/2002/HEALTH/diet.fitness/07/26/fast.food.lawsuit.ap/index.html)
I'd really hoped the day would never come when this could happen.
And... I'll tell you... if he wins this case. If it becomes McDonald's fault that he's obese.
I just give up on the whole system.

I saw that. And honestly, I think he stands a chance. A good lawyer (read: expensive lawyer) can convince a judge of pretty much anything when it comes to product liability lawsuits.

If ever I reach a point where I'm allowed to vote in this country, though, I know I'll be voting for the first person who promises to reform the judicial system to get rid of these frivolous lawsuits. I said this about the last one like this, 'cept it was cheese puffs rather than hamburgers.
