I have a long set of thoughts regarding feminism based on an interesting site I mostly agree with that I found, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] chrissmari. I was talking with a couple people online and in real life about this, and I'm realizing that how I define feminism does not seem to agree with how others define it.
So I'm curious what you people out in LJ-land think.
I expect to post more about this soon, but for now... a poll.

Note that that's not how I feel it should be, necessarily, but how I find that people perceive it and practice it.

Around here the proper term for an equality movement is "gender equity" -- note the lack of any mention of which gender, since it's assumed that all genders are supposed to be equal. Inherent in the word "feminism" is some kind of a gender bias, but surely it means different things to different people.

Feminism was originally defined by the movement's first leaders as the first choice above in your poll. As such, that is how I define feminism. The Feminine Mystique is a great book about feminism and conspiracy theories and about how things SHOULD go, as opposed to the mess they are now.
