And when your parents asked you what you did at church today, tell them you experience what life might have been like during the Inquisition
Yeah. Inquisition on little children. What a bloody WONDERFUL idea. :p
Children's entertainment at it's best!

I've been through this type of event, usually called "Persecution". Christians, on the whole, have it pretty easy in North America. So some people arrange such events to show you what it's like in other not-so-free countries.

It's a real eye-opener, it really is. Powerful and moving. But the unfortunate thing is that a lot of people take it too far, like in this case, and harm is caused.

I do feel the youth pastor and everybody else were at fault were not letting the daughter know what was involved. They should've seen that there was a concern and let them in on what was going to happen.

Also... handcuffs? That's absolutely reprehensible; it disgusts me that they'd go that far. Very few people know how to properly apply handcuffs, and it's so easy to put them on in such a way that it hurts A LOT.

All in all, this ordeal saddens me. They've taken a powerful experiential tool and turned it into shit.

Why do you need to waste your time and money having your 'eyes opened'? How about just looking outside to the folks on the street that don't have a warm place to stay or food to eat? How about looking to Africa, where AIDS is running rampant and children are being orphaned every day? Wouldn't your money be better spent there?

To me, this event sounds like it was only there to make folks feel special. "Look, I'm Christian and am being 'persecuted' like Christians all over the world." There is no unity in the church as long as folks spend their money on flashy evenings designed to focus more attention on oneselves rather than one's neighbor...
