Alright, as promised, I do want to talk about this weekend.

Saturday
Saturday went by both quickly and slowly.
We left the Griffin household around 10:30 in the morning and headed towards Rochester.
We stopped first for gas (and drinks for [livejournal.com profile] kareila and [livejournal.com profile] alierak) at the first rest stop.
This led to an interesting discussion between Robby and I. Kar had gotten gas while Robby had gotten the drinks: Coke for Kar and water for Robby. Kar's coke bottle stated that 1 of every 12 coke bottle will win a free coke. So I wondered aloud whether Kar buying 12 coke bottles would mean Kar would get at least 1 free coke bottle. Of course, Robby figured this out (the answer being that if you buy 12 coke cans, each with 1/12 probability of winning a free coke, your chances of winning at least once is about 2/3) and the binomial distribution.
I had thought it had ended there. I was mistaken :)
We drive on towards Rochester, stopping for lunch at a Friendly in Albany (after about 15 minutes of wandering around looking for a decent place to eat and for where said places to eat might be in relation to the street we were currently on). Just before lunch, Robby leans over and states that he's working on a trinomial pyramid, to determine the probability of whether something will, will nor or maybe will occur.
Robby is a silly boy :)
From there, Robby takes over driving and we drive a bit, Jen grabbing a slightly nap (and I probably snoozed off somewhere between Albany and Utica myself). Called [livejournal.com profile] ecwoodburn as we were leaving Syracuse to tell her to expect us and Robby and Jen switched off on driving again. Got to Rochester, just before 5:30, wandered into Kristen's apartment where she was cooking dinner for everyone, breaded chicken and rice. :)
Helped her make dinner, ate (with Strawberry Crush! Mmm! :D) and drove to Ithaca. It was decided that there was too much to put in one car, so I drove Kristen and Jen drove Robby (two cars)
Ithaca is interesting in that it's on the exact opposite side of, I THINK, Lake Cayuga, from the 90 (The NYS Thruway). So to get there from Rochester is approximately half an hour on the thruway and an hour and a half down route 96 up and down hills and curving around and etc. to get to the opposite side of the lake.
Saturday was not a bad drive. It was fairly late and dark, but pretty clear so that we could see where we were going.
Got to the hotel and checked in. The hotel room wasn't bad. Then we went to Dawn and Oli's hotel, met up with them and [livejournal.com profile] blackfelicula and [livejournal.com profile] mechanchaos and we wandered around Ithaca looking for a place to meet and talk.
Somewhere in all this, [livejournal.com profile] ecwoodburn have a.. sort of mini-fight. I'm not going to pretend otherwise, because everyone saw it and were concerned about it. It was stupid and related to... what's been going on in our lives for the past month (I won't get into detail unless Kristen OKs it.) It is over and done with (I hope) so.. no worries.
We ended up at a net cafe and hung out there for a while. After the fight, I came in and was like "ooo.. Pinball Machines. Hee!" so blew a dollar playing the Elvira pinball machine. Hee! :) (Yes, I like pinballs. Why do you ask?)
Then we all went back to our hotels for the night.

Sunday
Sunday, we woke up early, got showered dressed and made it out of the hotel a few minutes before our 11:00 deadline (when we needed to check out by. A little early if you ask me, but... it worked out for the best.)
Got to Dawn's hotel and knocked on her door. [livejournal.com profile] hbbtrbbtbcnbt and Matt (her non-LJing husband) were there along with Dawn's mother (and Dawn of course.). Beth had come early to do Dawn's hair up all pretty like. We hung out there for a while, amusing each other, did a Wendy's run for lunch and returned to a fully be-gowned Dawn. Very pretty :) White as a sheet, but very pretty :)
Then we headed on site to get some prep done for the wedding. Kristen had to get her Chicken A La King going and Beth needed help cutting the cheese (Matt's words which he used multiple times). I don't remember much that happened just before and just after Oli arrived. Oli looked very spiffy in black shirt, black pants and a tie. We chatted with him a little, but he had family obligations and we had prep.
Very shortly, we were asked to take our seats and so we did.
Maureen and John arrived in some nifty blue and purple robes and walked to the front of the room. Soon, they hit the CD player and the procession started. I don't remember whether Oli's parents came first or Dawn's mom and significant other. To be honest, it doesn't matter so much as when Dawn was walked down the aisle by her father. Dawn was absolutely beatiful and it was a beautiful moment and a beautiful opening to a beautiful ceremony.
The ceremony itself was short, sweet and did I mention beautiful? :) It was.. very nice. I started tearing up (and I was hardly the only one either *looks to [livejournal.com profile] ecwoodburn who just BROKE into tears as soon as the ceremony itself ended.*
Then the fun began ;D
For reasons I still don't fully understand, Dawn and Oliver allowed Maureen, John, Beth, Matt, Jen, Robby, Kristen and myself to sit together. The results were... a great deal of silliness. John and Matt kept going from table to table to steals unwrapped cameras to take pictures (some serious, but mostly silly ones). Maureen, Beth and I kept banging the glass with spoons and forks so Dawn and Oli would have to kiss. We even turned Badger Badger Badger Badger into Wedding Wedding Wedding Wedding (Panic a Cake! Cake! A Cake! Oh, it's Caaaaake!). It was fun and silly and altogether fun and we really had a good time and I think that when they got a chance to look in our direction, Dawn and Oli were amused.
Altogether, I think the wedding went off the best it could possibly go and I truly hope Dawn and Oli feel the way I do about it.
We left the wedding fairly early (5:30 or so) and drove home.
The problem with the drive was the 96 which had been OK the night before, but with the dark, the rain AND the fog was just.. not a fun drive home and I got really tense.
Got back to Rochester pretty early, so Jen, Robby, Kristen and I played a couple fo amusing games of stackable draw Uno (And Kar is eeeevil and meeean to me! ;( ). We got sorta sleep-dep silly after that and ended up going to bed early.

Today
I woke up, probably as Jen and Robby left, tried to go back to sleep, failed, ended up waking up and.. No Jen and no Robby. Wha? Apparently they had bugged out about 8:30 (but not after checking LJ and finishing off the donuts)
So we took our time waking up, eating a short breakfast, dressing etc. did lunch at Bill Gray's, filled my tank up with gas, dropped pictures at Walmart and.. I went home.
Not much to say after that. Work, home.
And post.
So.. I'll post :)

*hugs*

We didn't really 'allow' or otherwise, re: the seating - we just figured everyone could sit where they wished. Glad you had fun, though. We got some great pictures of everybody, too, which you shall have to see at some point soon.

*hugs you tightly* I don't know if I could have described things better myself. (Except that I wouldn't have referred to myself as 'beautiful' - disgustingly glowingly happy, perhaps. An aunt of mine told my mother that she couldn't believe how happy I looked and that I had stars in my eyes all day.)

My only regret is that the day passed SO quickly. There was barely a moment to spend with anyone. And with all that food, I barely had a few bites, all day! I'm glad everyone enjoyed it... and I'm deliriously happy that everything turned out so wonderfully and that I am now married to a wonderful man. :) (Too bad that wonderful man gets stuck with a dork like me!) :P

*hugs you a lot* Thank you for being a part of it.
