First and foremost,

Heppy Birfday [livejournal.com profile] doubletake!!

Now then...
My head. It's meeeeltiiiiiing.
Well, no, not really, but I've spent the day off the intraweb and working on writing a first draft of my thesis (not much else I can be doing at the moment and it needs to get done) and I feel.. head melty. Ugh. Luckily, I'm at home now so some R&R should help.
I've got an outline done. Tommorow I start filling in the parts I can. I've got some bits and pieces from some other thing, if I can find them, so that should be good.
So, time for R&R now.

And what am I doing with my time? I'm Geeking with iTunes.
I tried iTunes on Tuesday on my work computer and decided I loved it. It's not perfect, but I love the smart playlists (I've currently got one for 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s Hits along with playlists for favorite bands (TMBG, Weird Al, Billy Joel, Teh_Beatles, Barenaked Womenfolk etc. (Yes, I can tell I'm brain melty. I'm finding much amusement by screwing with band names. Hee.)
This is a big project, but I'm enjoying it mostly, so that's good. I just hope i finish it before I get bored. :)
I also would like to state that one of my favorite parts, and the part I was never fully happy with my database is the Search function. All I need to do is type a phrase (such as Great Fire to get Great Balls of Fire or Bird to get Birdhouse In Your Soul) and it pulls it out. That's great :)
My only complaint is that Lochjournal doesn't recognize it so that when I click "Detect" it fails to detect any music. pbtpbtpbthh ;p
I feel like such a music geek, at the moment. Hee. :)

I was doing some thinking about music geeking last night. I didn't do as well as I might have liked on the 80s quiz. Some of it was because the quiz was retarded about spelling, but part of it was like "D'oh. I know that song. I don't believe I missed it."
But then I spent forever working on it too because I knew I KNEW some of those songs and just couldn't place them.
Things did not look so good for Homestar Runner.
But then it got me thinking: what makes a music geek? Is a music geek someone who memorizes and can spit out lyrics? memorize and can spit out musical riffs?
I don't know, really. I don't know how you define it.
I know I know music. I may not memorize all the lyrics and can't name every song in four notes, but however you define it, I'm some sort of music geek.

So, yeah, that's my life.
I'm going to go back to playing with iTunes now. Ciao folks :)
