THE Call

I'd wanted to write this up. This is mostly for my own amusement, but I thought I'd make it public so others, if they choose, can be amused with me.

I stayed late yesterday. I had alot of work to do and just wasn't getting it done fast enough, so I stayed until 6:00 to get more of it done and feel caught up.

While working, a work friend, Del, was on the phone with the requesters. Apparently what they wanted to do was *ahem* play with the numbers a little bit to make them work. They were totally shady. In one sense, this should not be a huge surprise, but it is because most of the engineers we work with are never purposely shady. They may have some slightly shady logic at times, but, heretoforward, it's never been on purpose.
So Del is having a hard time trying not to hang up on the jerks, explaining to them as calmly and rationally as he can that they can't do that. FEMA will not accept that sort of behavior. Finally, they get off the phone and Del, making sure they get away with nothing (or maybe just because he's that annoyed), calls EVERYONE... FEMA, the State and the actual requestor to tell them of the shady conversation he just had, so that they're aware and watching like a hawk.

On one hand, i'm disgusted someone would do this, on another, it's almost funny how shady and... pathetic these engineers must be.
Ugh. People like the rest of us a bad name :p
