Look! Look! It's Monday and I'm actually typing up the weekend today/now instead of on Wednesday or Thursday! Wheeeee!

Busy weekend. Very busy. Honestly.. too busy.

On Friday Night, The local chapter of the S.C.A. (all 6 people who aren't currently at Pennsic ;) ) had an open meeting for new members to get involved. Kristen really wanted me to give this a try, as much because I think she would have liked it if I'd joined S.C.A. and it was an interest we both shared, as that because she wanted me to understand what S.C.A. was about a little more (I'll admit, I thought it was more fighting-centic than at least THIS Barony is.)
As I mentioned before, this took place while Pennsic was going on, so it was probably a much smaller than usual crowd.
So, Kristen shows up at work around 7:00 at night, we both hop into her car and head off to the meeting. The meeting was small, but not bad. I liked alot of the people and personalities I met, but I don't feel like there was much to interest me in S.C.A. itself. I'm not interested in fighting, nor archery, nor heraldry, nor scribing, nor.. well.. most of it.. Cooking might be OK. Architecture might be OK.
It's not that I'm interested in medieval times.. but.. not in what they're recreating.
Science during Medieval and ESPECIALLY Rennaisance Times is interesting. (oo. Alchemy. Wheee *Splode*). I'm interested in history (not just the wars and who is attacking who and when)
So... I came, I saw, I ate some really good food, but I doubt S.C.A. is for me.
At the end of the meeting, we realized we were tired and decided we'd

Saturday, the plan was to go back to Dream Wizards to spend some of my birthday money, go grocery shopping in Laurel (a new place I wanted to go to called Weis) and swing by for my car. Also, if we have time, plan Early American Chrononauts.
That was the PLAN.
We woke up earlier than we'd both have liked and both of us read, hoping to go back to sleep. Of course, this didn't happen. So we shower together and I'll let you guess via Kristen's last poll what could have POSSIBLY happened (for the record, I was the Scrubee and she was the Scrubber. I demanded, obnoxiously, that she scrubbed me. I did not mean with her hands and I did not mean.. well, nevermind.)
Got up, got dressed, went off to Dream Wizards where I got Early American Chrononauts and Munchkin (and ended up Charging Munchkin 2, which I blame Kristen for because she ended up taking too long to get in trouble (she ended up buying Chez Dork) )
We went up to lunch at a REALLY expensive Chinese Buffet that I didn't think was that great.
We went home.. and crashed. Hard. We were both tired and Kristen's sick was beggining to bother her.
After waking up, we made dinner, but Kristen didn't wake up well and felt cranky, sick and not good. So.. after a near argument, we decided we could shop on Sunday if we had to. And did.
Then, when Kristen felt better, we spent a couple hours playing EAC and Chez Dork.

Sunday.. well, Sunday HAD to be catch-up day. We still hadn't gotten my car from Friday.. or the Groceries. Plus, we both had decided we wanted to go off to the Smithsonian American History museum and see if we could go together and see.. what there was to see.
Got up early, but Kristen needed to balance her checkbook before paying bills.
Kristen must have spent two hours easily balancing the checkbook and paying her bills. However, the good news was clear… between her savings and checking, she probably has enough to move. Huzzah!
Finally, at 10, we took a shower (no sex) and got ready to grocery shop and go pick up the car.
Grocery shopping… took a while. We like Weis. One day in the future we’ll look at each other and go “Do you remember when we used to go to Giant?” and laugh because we were silly and dumb then. Yes, we like Weis much. Enough that we easily spent an hour and over $100 there (bad us)
Got my car, go home and I look at the time. It’s nearly 2. We’re never gonna have time to get to Washington at this rate! We eat a quick lunch and head over to Washington to find out.. the museum actually closes at 6:30 and not 5:30. Huzzah! :D
The mind was willing… but between the long weekend and all, the body was not. By 6:00, we were both sitting more than standing and our feet were killing us, even though there was still lots of neat things to explore. So.. we’ll have to go back. Again.
Then we go home to make dinner.
Let me back up a couple weeks. A couple weeks ago, Kristen and I were looking for ideas for dinners to cook together, and she found an… interesting looking recipe for Moroccan Meat Loaf. Sadly, she only looked at the ingredient list. *I* looked at the directions, whined a little that it looked rather difficult, but agreed to try it if we planned to prep in advance.
We did not prep in advance yesterday. We were home at 7:00 and could not have started to eat until 9:00. It took about an hour and a half to prep the fucking meat loaf. We had to soak apricots in hot water, skin red peppers, dice both as small as we could, cut green onion and cilantro, put more spice in the meatloaf and sauce than I’ve ever used in one day. I had to use my hand to attempt to mix all this together in our spaghetti pot.
When all is said and done, I really enjoyed the meat loaf. It was odd and different, but fairly tasty. However, without a few more helpers or at least some majorly planned prep time, I will never make it again.
NO meal is worth waiting two hours from start to finish to finally be able to eat. That may be OK for our mothers and grandmothers, but in this age of microwave instameals, there’s just no excuse. Most of my meals take half an hour, MAYBE an hour from prep to eat (unless crock pot is involved, but that’s different)
Finally, at 9:00, we both had it and crashed. Hard.
And this.. this long post of DOOM was the result of our busy weekend. And some of you wonder why Kristen needs sleep so much.

OK, time to post.
