Oh my god! I'm metamorphosizing! (note: YES, I know I didn't say it right. :p)
I'm turning into... an adult!
God help me!

OK, seriously.
I wanted to post about two non-work things

Thing One (which should not be mistaken for Thing Two.. or Things Three or Four or Five, not the Cat in the hat.. but.. uh.. ANYWAYS!)
As of today, I am going to attempt to lower my cola intake to.. negligible.. at least while at work. Pop is expensive, especially when I buy it out of the machine. And it's not particularly good for me either, even the diet.
So, as of today, I'm going to attempt to switch to water.
Well, not just plain old water.. fruiter water. That is to say, I currently have, next to my computer, a small water bottle with about 20 oz. of water.. and three sliced strawberries. The strawberries don't give ALOT of extra taste, but enough that it doesn't taste just like water. I'm going to experiment with some other fruits. So far I've tried orange.. which was.. OK.. I probably need a sweeter orange (like a mandarin orange) to really enjoy that one.. and the strawberry.
Because it's a hellalot cheaper to buy a box of strawberries or blueberries (what I want to try next), ($3 - $4 for an approximately two week supply of Strawberries.) than it would to buy enough soda to last as long.
Also, again, healthier. Water is good. Fruit is good. I can't go wrong with fruiter water. :D

So.. wish me luck on that.

...

I forgot what Thing Two was.

uh...
OK, if I think of it, I'll either amend this post or post something new.
*thinks harder*
Yeah. Can't remember.
Time to go to work.

Try Propel, Fruit20, or Aquafina Fruit Water.

They don't taste like water ;)

I actually like the fizzy sweetened water from.. well, you can get it all over...

But that gets expensive as well. Half of this is to drink better. The other.. to drink cheaper.
Hence the fruit in the water.

Yar.
Old layout doesn't seem to show much at work anymore :p (I'm STILL having trouble keeping my cookies at work. I don't know why. I even restarted this morning.)
Also, it was about time for a change.
Gonna play with it some. Possibly reconsider the style. Definately add some links :)

Give lemon and water a try. I like it.

K does this. I don't care for lemon, so it doesn't do it for me. This is why I'm trying OTHER fruits such as strawberries and blueberries :)

*nods* Or, failing that, a splash of lemon juice does the same thing.

Again, read my comment to Matt.
Dun like da lemon.
Also, the trick with this is.. I'm refilling the bottle with water as I go. Leaving the fruit at the bottom of the bottle is easier than bringing the juice/puree/whatever with me and remembering to readd all the time :)

Yes, I'm LAZY! ;)

I gave up all sodas and other drinks with high fructose corn syrup in them a while ago (6 months maybe? wow, didn't realize it has been that long). The only soda I drink now is fresca, since it's pretty much carbonated grapefruit juice. A lot of juices have the corn syrup in them, but if you look you can find ones that don't (nantucket nectars comes to mind, along with langer's 100 percent juices).

Honestly, I don't miss it all that much. Occasionally i'll get a craving for a coke or I'll be out somewhere with friends and just not feeling like water will cut it and I will have one, but I don't see having a single soda once a week _at most_ as an unhealthy thing. In the beginning it was harder since i was really used to grabbing the soda with lunch at work or while out to eat, but after about a month it just stopped bothering me.

My substitute drink is usually water, but also teas (herbal and black) and at home i often drink a mix of fresca and real cranberry juice. Good stuff :)

Oh, best teas in the world come from Mighty Leaf. Orange Dulce is nectar of the gods :D And if you don't want caffiene (which i also limit myself to one a day), African Nectar is very good. You can find them online in either loose leaf or bag form. And I use bags twice because they are that tasty.

Good luck!

Amateur. I've been drinking mostly water for two years now, with my soda intake close to nil for that entire time. And it's UNFLAVORED water - eventually, that stops mattering to your tastebuds. :)

Congrats?
I didn't realize this was a contest?

I haven't been able to get off the soda. That's the thing. That's why I'm trying to find something that works for me so that I can continue to wean myself off.

The entire universe, physicists have discovered, is a contest between two beings named Fred and Ted. Damned if I know which of them I'm helping, but I totally stand by whichever cosmic entity it is!
