Self-purgatory

I come before you a changed man.
Well... sort of.
I've decided I was sick of my weight going up and took a long, hard look at my eating habits. To be honest, I'm less than satisfied with myself. I'm not sure I'm doing my best to really lose weight. I fear I've gone back to my old eating habits (to some extent).
Certainly, I can't say that I'm really eating properly.
See, that's been the key to my success right there: Lots of Exercise and Eating Right. If I'm not eating right, no wonder I'm gaining weight (by the way, looking at my graph for march, I have steadily gained weight instead of losing it. Weekends are the time that it seems to be worst.
So, for this week I've decided to try and purge myself of these terrible nasty habits. Simply as a test.
The test extends from today through next Saturday. Basically, I'll keep a very watchful eye on what and how much I'm eating.
Why a test, you ask? Simple. 1) I'm not fully sure that it's just because of my eating habits that I've been having this plateau. 2) Regardless, it'll help to get into the swing of things now while I can make my own schedule and, if this works, I can adapt it to next week and the week after and so on and so forth till I'm hopefully chugging down the weight loss road.
Here's the plan (as far as I CAN plan ahead)
From Monday thru Friday,
Wake up fairly early, be at the gym by 9:00 (10:00 latest)
Workout. A FULL 60 minutes of cardio (It's too easy to wimp out and just do 50 or 52.5. Sure the 7 minutes may not add up in short-term, but in the long-term they do and for this experiment, I want to be operating under "best" conditions) and weight lifting Monday, Wednesday and Friday (I may make a free day somewhere in between. Maybe Thursday. Dunno yet.)
Go eat AFTER working out (because if I work out hard, I'm ALWAYS hungry afterwards, so I may as well make that my meal time.)
Go work on.. whatever I need to work on. Project, GIS applications, whatever
Have a SMART Snack (I may eat it. I may not. But whatever it is, make sure it's not just a big calorie source)
Go home and do whatever.
Have a smart dinner. (Can't plan this. It depends as much on where my family goes to eat (Wednesday is the first night of Passover. My grandmother will have a "traditional" seder. (for her) so I'll try to just eat until I'm full and not past that.) or what they order, etc.)
Do.. whatever. Study, play Sims: Vacation (when I get it), hang on Chaotic.
Go to bed.
The point is to just watch what I eat and, above all, keep sweet count DOWN (I love sweets. Jellybeans, Chocolate, Cake.... it's my downfall. A little certainly doesn't hurt... too much, though...)
So I'll keep y'all informed on how this little experiment goes.
Start Conditions: My average weight is 253.83 lbs.
Hopefully by Saturday, we'll get it down a pound or two.
That would be good.
In other totally unrelated news, I'm still struggling through studying Statics again. Christ, I had this class years and years and years ago. All I remember about is:
F = ma
Sum of Forces = 0
M = r x F
Sum of Moments = 0
Luckily, Statics is only ONE section of the test.
I'm much more confident on other sections (mathematics, Fluid mechanics, Chemistry)
Hopefully I'll finish the Statics tonite. Tommorow I'll start on Dynamics.
Yippee. :P
So my idiot brother (Josh) is currently in the emergency room with my dad. I'm not sure of the details of HOW he did it, but he slammed his finger in a metal door and may have cracked or broken it. He's in there now trying to find out what and get it healed.
I *AM* in a better mood than I was yesterday or two days ago. The party at Dave's house was good and I had lots of fun.
Do you believe some idiot (*cough* Eric *cough* ) got Dave an actual sharpened sword?
My $30 gift certificate to Media Play looked pretty piddly compared with a sword. Ah well.
Most of the time, I spent eating massive amounts of tasty but not good for me crud (mm.. poppers, mozerella sticks, swedish metaballs, chicken wings), playing Super Smash Brother Melee (YAY! Button Pushing and STILL losing!) and watching people playing Grand Theft Auto 3.
Christ, is that a sweet game. I vaguely remember playing the original (or was it #2), going around a 2 dimensional board, stealing cards running down people and trying to keep away from the cops. There wasn't much point to it.
Grand Theft Auto 3 is like a totally different game (with a similair plotline). You live in (I think) New Jersey. You ARE a Car Thief. You can steal everything from sports cars to fire engines and tanks. If you steal a taxi, you can make money picking people up and driving them where you want to go. If you steal an ambulance, you can make moeny picking up victims and taking them to hospital.
You can steal a sports car and pick up "women of the night", drive into a small alley and... er... well, if the sports car's a rocking, don't come a knocking.
There are various gangs and mobs to whom you can piss off who'll put the hit on you (and whom you have missions which seem to be to fuck over one of these gangs or the mob)
Or, of course, you can just drive the car over the many and various ramps and do tricks.
All in all, the game is pretty damn sweet!
That's all I can think of to say. I'll watch the Academy Awards tonite and study Statics. That's about it.
Post to y'all laters. I'll keep ya informed how my experiment goes.

BOO!

Date: 2002-03-24 05:24 pm (UTC)Yeah, I hope LotR gets it too, but I fear it may just be all about the politics, ya know?
Re: BOO!
Date: 2002-03-25 12:00 am (UTC)Anyway... I kinda know what you mean, not necessarily with respect to Russell Crowe (who is just too damn fine), but I stopped liking Kenneth Branagh after he ditched Emma for Helena. I would say I stopped liking Tom after he ditched Nicole for Penelope, but I never really liked Tom to begin with. :)
Re: BOO!
Date: 2002-03-25 03:34 am (UTC)Yeah, the Oscars are too filled with politics. Someone suggested that LotR WILL get best movie.. after the third one is made. The committee figured "hey, he made all three at once. So we can wait until the third one to give him the Academy Award."
I didn't see Beautiful Mind. I don't think I will. I don't tend to watch Biographies much unless they're action-packed or funny.
As I said to my mom: I like three types of movies: Sci Fi/Fantasy, Comic and Action-Adventure. Other than that, I rarely care.

And that is the Thing You Didn't Really Want to Know of the day.
