Yesterday, I had plans to go hang out with some friends from CC, which we did, and then go looking at townhomes with K.

The first two places we went to were in Chantilly, where we live now. They were in the same neighborhood, both about five minutes further down Route 50 than we live now.

The first place was the most expensive place. The first problem we ran into was that the place was currently occupied and it was kinda awkward that they were having a party when we showed up and we felt like we were in the way. It wasn't a bad place. It seemed big enough. We noted one of the rooms was easily five degrees hotter than the others (The airflow in this apartment SUCKS. It's nonexistant. We want a place with airflow.) though there was a downstairs neighbor, and no basement as such. (The basement was a hallway to the backyard with a washer and dryer)

The second place was occupied as well, which still felt awkward. Despite being $150 cheaper SEEMED bigger. The master bedroom was absolutely HUGE, as was the kitchen (The kitchen was so big that the dining room probably could be used as something else). It was difficult to tell about airflow since we think the current residents preferred the home warmer and they had all the windows closed upstairs.

The third place was the one K really liked. She thought that the rooms looked big and well placed. It was also the one that was unoccupied, so we could take lots of pictures and it didn't feel awkward being in there. The interesting thing about this house is that it DOES have a full basement (and no downstairs neighbor) and that there's a fireplace in the basement. There was a little actual STORAGE in the basement too under the stairs and next to the washer and dryer, which would be needed. The first floor is pretty big with a nice kitchen (No microwave, but we can purchase one). The second floor is big with only two large bedrooms (the only trick with the master bedroom is two huge windows at the front of the room which will make placing the bed a LITTLE awkward, but we already have an answer for that.

The fourth house was the one that I liked because it looked nice with hardwood floors, and a nice lowered living room. PLUS Energy Star Appliances. The place was occupied and the occupant was trying to sell her place to us by going on and on about how friendly the owner is and how much work she's done on the place, but the truth was: there wasn't nearly enough guest parking (it's a house, we want to have the occasional party! :D ) and to be honest, the appliances looked new, but the place seemed cramp, badly designed and even the floors which were a selling point were dark, scuffed and omnipresent (I never saw ANY carpet, which means, with the noob on the way, we'd probably have to buy all sorts of rugs. I DO like hardwood floors, but not ALL over.) Other things we noticed were clothes hung on the bed (I assume that means the closet space isn't big enough), damage to the wall.. oh, and the majority of the basement had a low roof, at 6 foot, which doesn't really fit in with what we wanted to use the basement for (DDR). So.. in short, my favorite was a blood disaster.

So we went talked to the real estate agent and said "You know, we really liked the third one." cause we did. There are things that would take some getting used to, like having the living room in the basement, llike having the clothes closet right next to the bedroom, but for a year or two, I think the place would be great.

So... we put in the application and see, I guess. I can't think of any reason we wouldn't be accepted.

So... today, we start packing. And cleaning up and out. Cause we're hoping to be out of here within 6 or 7 weeks.
