hkellick: A New Sims Sheep - For Sims Fans :D (Sim Sheep)

So.. Sims 3: World Adventures comes out today. I've purposely disconnected myself somewhat from the stream of information, mostly so that when I sit down and lay tonight SOMETHING is still a secret. :) .. at least until I start reading the strat guide today ;)

In short, World Adventures is another Vacation EP. Hopefully better than the last two. It sounds as if they built upon what they started in Sims 2: Bon Voyage, but they tried to do it better.

The Sims 2: Bon Voyage tried to improve upon the original Sims 1: Vacation by making there be an actual POINT to traveling. Sims went on vacation and learned things they could learn nowhere else.. Sea Chanties, how to teleport, you could even get a Voodoo Doll! The problem with Bon Voyage was that it was one of the first EPs to get unplayably buggy. You'd go to the Far East to learn their dance, but couldn't learn it because of a glitch with the radios. Stuff like that. It got annoying fast, which was a pity, because the whole idea behind Bon Voyage wasn't bad at all.

Sims 3: World Adventure is more about the adventures you'll have while ON Vacation. Sure, you can go to Champs de Sims, France for three days, hang around the tourist traps, pick up some souvenirs, some recipes for french food, maybe learn a little about wine-making (oh, sorry.. NECTAR making.) But you could ALSO find yourself exploring an underground dungeon looking for a hidden artifact. The choice, of course, is all yours.

The Sims 3 Base Game included a new Challenge system by which you'd get random work, skill or neighborhood related challenges. For example, if you've been working out in the gym, you might get a challenge to train a guy for three hours, and if you pass the challenge, you'll get a benefit of some sort, whether it be an increase in skill, some money or something else. Sims 3: World Adventures uses that system and offers new neighborhood related challenges for the three new destinations you can explore (Chaps de Sims, France, Al-Simhara, Egypt and Shang Simla, China) that will challenge you to explore the neighborhood (and probably the underground dungeons especially), with interesting benefits if you pass.

I am excited about this game. Why not, right? It offers my sims a chance to experience new things they'd otherwise not experience, buy things they couldn't buy otherwise and so on, and isn't that what Vacation is really all about?
