*falls down, goes boom*
Aug. 8th, 2002 10:17 amHeh. I don't want to think about how much work and time has gone into plan this weekend's Darien Lake plans.
Tommorow I'm going to take off work and get the last minute things taken care of, make sure the house looks respectable, get the tickets, make beds for my guests etc.
I cannae hardly wait! :D
All this work is going to be totally worth it come Saturday as we all converge to Darien Lake and TAKE OVER THE WORLD!
Well... maybe not take over the world. But have fun in other just as interesting ways.
Though, personally, I think we SHOULD take over the world for my 27th birthday. I've always wanted my own world to rule, but, as of yet, no one has produced this most dear wish. Pity.
I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with tearing up and down Darien Lake with some of my best friends instead :D
So, I finally got the last Discworld book that was, until recently, unavailable in America: Witches Abroad. So far it's great (then again, I think *ALL* the Discworld novels are great :D ) cause it's mocking Fairy Tails and Fantasy, in general.
FOR EXAMPLE, one of my favorite scenes in the book goes something like this..
Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat are floating down a river... Granny notices they're being followed. Suddenly something disgusting and vaguely frog-like with glowing eyes climbs onto the boat and says "'Ullo. It'ssss My Birthday." They stand around for a moment, blinking at each other before Granny hits it with an oar, thus stunning it and watches it slip into the water.
I read that part and nearly fell out of my chair with laughter. :D
I'll see if I can't find the exact quote and post it here for y'all soon :)
Granny Weatherwax stands as one of my all time favorite Discworld characters, probably because I identify so readily with her. Her and Sam Vimes. I think I'm alot like them.. gruff and grumpy exterior, but good inside.
I should make a "What Discworld Character am I most like" quiz...
... if i knew how to make a quiz.
What else?
Josh finally got his car. He doesn't have a LISCENCE yet, but he does have a car. I took him out driving yesterday (He drove, I commented) and I'll probably do it again today.
I've taken him out twice so far.. the first was a week ago, in the dark and in my car. He was pretty bad. He seemed to not know how to work my brakes right and he was drifting to the right..
Yesterday, he was much better. He seems to have issues reading signs and thinking about stopping and dealing with people in a busy parking lot (We went to Tops for his Darien Lake ticket and to find Econo Lodge for Mark and Janine) and he did drift a bit (he needs to learn to hold the wheel steady as he looks behind him and reads signs), but he was much better. Honestly.
All the idiots were out yesterday, tho :p
First, driving with Josh, we're going down Wehrle and as we just passed the intersection when this pick-up apparently decides he can't wait for the line of cars in front of him to go forward (Red light and all), so swings half-way between his lane and ours.. luckily, Josh swerved out of the way, but what a FUCKING IDIOT!
Then, coming home with mom.. some lady made an odd left turn.. like she didn't know waht she was doing.. then a minute later takes a left turn from the center lane into a u-turn.
Idiots.
Not much else I can think of that I have to say, so I guess I'll post this.
