RAR!! Stomp stomp stomp
Aug. 22nd, 2002 08:15 pmLITE angry!
LITE bash things!
LITE bash things with heavy sticks of which I current have none.
This should tell you how the concert went.
I get to Lafayette Square just in time for the opening act, Katie Miller. As the concert begins, it begins to rain.. hard.. out goes the poncho and umbrella and, after a few, it stops. Katie was actually pretty decent. She looked like a rock star and her music was... decent. I considered buying the CD, but.. nah. She was OK, so I go to the souveneir booth right after her. TMBG wants $25 for a concert T-shirt! I got mine for $15. Me no think so, dorko...
So I grab a drink eat my Subway Sub and wait for the next band, Redheaded Stepchild.
They were.. OK.. I'm not a big bluesgrass fan...A couple songs had me bopping in my spot..
And then it begins to rain again... lightens up... band gets off stage.
So, I wait for TMBG to come out, the part I've been waiting for all summer. Will they do Spin the Dial? WIll they do Man, It's So Loud In Here?
And about 20 minutes before they start, it begins to rain hard.. and harder.. and harder... A torrent of water hits us, turning the grassy knoll into a mud pit within 10 or 15 minutes.
And we wait, patiently, for TMBG to come on.
10 minutes later.. 10 minutes before they get ready to come on stage.. the speakers crap out..all of them, all at once. As a note, the speakers were never covered.. they've been saying for days it would rain.. and, indeed, it did.. and the speakers weren't covered...
And people rush on stage to try and fix it.. and we wait.. and wait.. and wait.. and the rain is pounding and we're hoping above hope that they can fix it.
15 minutes later.. 5 minutes into what should have been TMBG's act.. they call for silence and say.. they can't get the power back up, it's unsafe.. the show is over.
The show is over.
No TMBG.
GRAAAAAAH!!
Dammit dammit dammit dammit!
STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP RAR RAR RAR!
*sigh*
At this point, I'm hoping beyond hope that They will reschedule in Buffalo...
or at least Rochester...
*sigh*

Awwww....
Date: 2002-08-22 08:29 pm (UTC)They certainly have a problem w/ technical stuff at shows. The first time I saw TMBG, all the house lights in the TLA, Philadelphia died. Luckily, they still had stage lights, but as Flans said,
"Is there anything as sad as a disco ball that doesn't spin?"

Date: 2002-08-23 09:37 am (UTC)I'd kill the venue crew. Repeatedly.

So I'm sort of waffling about the idea...
