I have no idea where this one came from.
I dreamed I had volunteered (GAH!) to go back to Beechwood Nursing Home and work a day.
I was going to go work in the dishroom again with John Fonzi.
A bunch of people who used to work there with me: Olivia (though she was dressed as a receptionist which is what she is now), Sean (who I don't think works in the kitchen).
The question was... well it wasn't whether I knew how to do the job anymore but whether I was still as fast as I used to be.
Then the scene shifts and I was taking trash but the only exits out were all emergency exits which would set off an audible alarm. So I shrugged, went through the emergency exit, triggered the alarm and trudged off into a veritable tundra. The walk to the dumpster was much longer than it actually is in real life. I don't recall feeling cold or even upset that I had to trudge out in that. I just trudged.)
Then I woke up.

As I think about it, I know that that basic landscape is one that's occured in my dreams before.
There's a few places like that that pop up in my dreams often... even if they aren't exact duplicates (or even close) of the originals.
An example of this is Darien Lake. I've dreamed a few dreams in that place.. but it's nothing like the real darien lake. It's a huuuuge place filled with all sorts of cool rides. Something like an amusement park and county fair rolled into one.. and it's almost always dark. Not pitch black, because I could see the rides and such, but dark.
I dunno why I keep having dreams in that place.. but I do.
What about y'all? Do you find you have recurring places in your dreams?

My dad opened for..whatever.

I have lots of recurring places in my dreams. Philly that isn't anything like Philly. My grandmother's house that isn't my grandmother's house, complete with haunted attic. Towns. Houses. Everythings.

And then there are the dreams, where I've had them since I was a child, and then discover the place in real life years later...

Yes. Oooooh, yes. There's an entire geographically contiguous area that's my dreams sometimes explore. You get there by turning down a street that's not very far from where I used to live. A street, of course, that isn't actually there.

Oddly, the night before last I had another dream in that area. I don't dream about those locations (or remember that I've dreamed about them) very often.

I usually dream about places that I spent a significant amount of time in.

Not terribly mysterious or exciting or anything, but... yeah.

reoccurring places, for sure. There are whole other WORLDS that I dream about, weird places that I dont think really exist, but they're all laid out in my head. Then there are places that DO exist but I've never been to, and places I have been to, but they exist differently in my mind than they do IRL.

Yeah.

Wandering around lost in a mall... it's not always the same mall, though occasionally it is. I don't think it's actually a representation of a mall I've ever been to, though in my mind I think of it being a the rich suburb/city a few miles northeast of me. I'm almost always either lost, looking for someone, or looking for something in the mall dreams... I think the only instances where I've had a mall-dream that didn't have that was one dream where I ended up in a socially embarrassing situation, and another where I was running through the mall because I was going to save the city from some sort of plague/epidemic. Hmm. Except for this one mall, which I've dreamt about at least twice... I'm just wandering around for fun, looking at the stores and stuff, usually with my mom.

The occasional school dream where campuses are mixes of other campuses and stuff that's not in any campus I've attended, though often representing a particular school that I've attended or was wanting to attend.

Freeways. And, inevitably, the freeway-rollercoster 'nightmare'. Though I haven't had that one in... hmm. About a year and a half. The last rollercoaster-freeway dream I had I wrote in my LJ here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/angiepenguin/46324.html). So yeah, it was a little over a year ago.

Hmm. Also the occasional city bus dream, though those are fairly rare. Actually, the city bus dreams are often more surrealistic than my other dreams. Time is a lot more variable in those ones, and I'm more likely to be doing something unusual (like flying out the window) or being obsessed with something (picking up change on the ground to have money for the bus, and end up missing the bus because I got greedy and got more change than I needed)... had one dream where I was on a bus and I was able to control all the people on it... then there's the (I'd imagine) cliche'd being-on-the-bus-and-missing-your-stop dream...

So, yeah, I have recurring places.

... Sheesh, if I stuck an intro and conlcusion onto that, I'd have enough material for an essay. :P
