Got a big test tommorow,
So of course I can't sleep.
Too nervous. Every time I settle down, I either just lie there or get bored and try to read or (now) get online.)
*sigh*

The EIT Exam has come and gone.
I'm feeling particularly braindead, so excuse me if I sound even less intelligent than usual.
So... I got maybe two hours of sleep last night. I just couldn't relax. Why? I'm not quite sure... part of it was nervousness, part, I think, was that it was humid and warm. I dunno.
So, I got like two hours of sleep and got on the road by 5:30
I was way early. Like.. 45 minutes early. It was OK. I wasn't the earliest one and at least I found it no problem.
So... they started registering us at 7:30. I got in no problem, took my seat on the second floor and waited... and waited.. and looked through the EIT review book... and waited a little longer.
Finally at 8:15, they started reading the instructions.
One of the things that irks me was that we were expected to sit in the room for an entire four hours without having to go to the bathroom. If we needed to go to the bathroom, we'd have to close our test, give them to a proctor and be escorted to the bathroom. (which is usual for these kind of exams, but anyways..)
Let me interrupt this train of though to explain what the EIT test basically consists of. There are two parts, a morning exam with 120 questions and an afternoon exam with 60 questions. All questions are multiple choice. The topics are topics that all engineers in ABET accreditted programs get in their first 3 years (supposedly. As it turns out, I only got some of it because I was an aerospace engineer for a year. Civil engineering doesn't require you to know Thermodynamics of Electrical Circuits.)
They're tricky about some of their questions. If you aren't careful and forget to read something or miss something, you'll get a listed answer, but it won't be correct.
So... I start doing the programs and it's like.. know this, know this, know this... within 15 problems, I'm "in the groove". There were between 5 and 10 problems I wasn't 100% certain on, but the majority of them I was pretty happy with.
I won't say I thought it was easy. I know if I do that, then I'll find I missed half of them and SUCK and FAILED!
So I'll just say that the first part was fair. Very fair. If you reviewed the material, you were in good shape to do well on the first part.
Got out a little early, feeling good about the first part. Talked to some of the other people out before me and go eat my lunch.
Back into the room at 1:15. Or we were supposed to.
The problem was.. and we aren't sure of the details.. somehow a bird had gotten caught in the glass in the cieling or SOMETHING, because it would start chirping loudly and often. It seemed to go away at 1:30 and so at 2:00, we started.
2:15 the bird started chirping again.
They ended up finding a new room for anyone who found the chirping disturbing (about 3/5 of the room. I decided to stay there. I had developed a pace.)
Anyways, if the first part was fair, the second part was MURDER!
Oi, my aching head! Some of the questions just came out of nowhere. Some I understood, knew how to do and the correct answer wasn't listed!
Others I came up with some pseudo-logic why this might work and found an answer.
Others I guessed at.
Though there were maybe 1/3 - 1/2 of the questions (probably closer to 1/3. I don't actually know) that I confidently knew how to answer and got answers I liked that made sense to me.
So... in retrospect.. I THINK I passed. I won't know for certain until 2 - 4 months from now, but if I did as well as I think I did on the first part and DID get even 1/3 of the problems on the second part right, then I pass. And that is happy.
BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS AGAIN!!
Anyways... I knew that many of you wondered how the test went, so that's how it went.
Tommorow, I play catchup and work on my Design Class writeup. And I'll work out, which I haven't done in a couple days... and I'll try to RELAX and CHILL OUT and NOT WORRY ABOUT EITS or TESTS or such!

And to end... some quizzes going around )
