What I've been up to...
May. 31st, 2002 04:45 pmWell, I've been a busy and productive little bee. I'm feeling pretty proud of it.
At work, I'm struggling very badly with an ArcView script that refuses to run like I want. Let me explain the problem, because it boggles my mind. Basically, I have a script that runs perfectly the first time through a nested FOR loop, but exits immediately the second time through. There's quite a bit more to it, but I don't know how much y'all care about the details. It's really agitating, because I KNOW it shouldn't be happening...
On the home front, I'm nearing a semblance of completion for arranging and sorting, at the very least, my 80s music. Actually, i've spent a while downloading totally new material. My reasoning is that I had... about 1 1/3 CD of 80s music, and while I COULD put the third of a CD of music on another CD, having done the 80s quiz lately, I realized just how much music I DIDN'T have, so I went on a mad downloading spree.
Well, I said was... really still am.
I have 2 CDs worth of good 80s music now. And that doesn't include favorite artists like Billy Joel and Queen who will be burned seperately, so that I have all the songs for my favorite artists together.
I'm just going over a couple of sites filled with 80s songs and making sure I didn't forget something important (like, do you believe I didn't have an MP3 of Sledgehammer? What the hell is wrong with me, eh?), then I'll sort the CDs into two folders, burn then and label them with my new nifty CD label program I bought...
When I'm done downloading, I'll probably post my 2 CDs worth of 80s MP3s and let you guys admire at what a geek I really am. :D
Actually, I'll probably get a lot of stuff done tonight. It's my brother's last concert. The big Pops concert that's chorus AND Orchestra AND Band and there's a tacit understanding that I've gone to enough concerts and I don't have to go to this one. Which is good, because I just don't LIKE High School Band or Orchestra. They play these hoity-toity classical music pieces which I just don't care for and I sit there bored out of my skull. Chorus isn't much better. Instead of doing something amusing like doing a capella, they sing these hoity toity old songs which, again, I simply don't care for. This is the last concert of the year and I've gone to ALL the others, so I really don't feel bad.
So, I'm feeling amused at the moment. I just found out that I probably WOULD have had money to go to Seattle. What I don't have, now, is the time. That's OK. I really DO want to buy a new computer soon, so I think I'll save the money I'll get towards this. Where is the money coming from? Well, I'll tell you! ;)
As I mentioned, I'm taking part in the "Great Lakes Summer Camp" this June. This is a program HOSTED by UB and Buff State, but it concerns students from New York, Geneseo, Toronto, and elsewhere around Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. Because some of us are giving up jobs and such to be a part of this, they're paying for dorming these students and food. I'm not planning at living at Buff State. It makes no sense to me. And I'm already being payed for my RA job. So I'll get an extra... amount of money. I'm not sure how much. Monica Moshenko, my boss's secretary suggested about $450.
So... I'll take it and save it towards a new computer :D
Yay! :D
That's all I can think of to say, so i'll post.
Ciao, folksies
