My MP3s

Ah, finally... some WARM weather.
It's Sunny.
It's Warm.
I'm happy :)

So, I want to talk about my MP3s.
As many of you know (since I have the habit of saying it repeatedly), I have many MP3s.
About a half to 3/4 of them are legal (in that I own the CD or I got them from emusic or mp3.com), but that's neither here nor there.

For... a couple weeks now, I've been working on My Playlist
Basically, I've been going through my 25 (or so) MP3 CDs, Burning some of my Audio CDs.. and downloading a few songs as I went.
I'm already up to about 3000 songs altogether.
And I have... a bunch of audio CDs I still plan to burn and a bunch of MP3 CDs I still need to sort through.
So, I EXPECT, altogether, to have between 6,000 and 8,000 mp3s. Maybe more. (sssh. Don't tell the RIAA.)
Oh, and I'm still downloading :)
Now the reason I'm putting everything down on The complete uncategorized playlist is...I want to be able to see if someone asks me do you have this mp3.. whether I do or not. (Such just happened yesterday when INNADAZE (on Chaotic) asked me if I had any songs by a band called Firehouse).
With as many MP3s as I have, the web page format is going to be... clunky.
Even if I cut my complete playlist into 3 or 4 smaller playlists (A-G, F-M... etc.)
The perfectionist part of me thinks there's a BETTER WAY involving a database (such as pulling PHP and MySQL out again).
While I'm willing to do SOME extra work for a better solution, the idea of readding 3000 songs, plus all the other fields I'd add (Year Out, CD etc.).. I'd be backtracking ALOT.
Oh, and I can't think of a good way to get anything to give me the nice sort of setup I have already, seperated by letter and such.
Maybe if I did some serious work with PHP and MySQL, but I don't know how to do that yet.
Though, I suppose, I COULD look at my PHP/MySQL book and see if this is doable.
It would be NICE to just work with an online form.
I was just talking to [livejournal.com profile] xb95 on AIM and he said that if I wanted to try PHP/MySQL, then, at the least, he hosts PHP and he can make me a MySQL database (that I can then add to)
I'll probably go back to my old MySQL/PHP book (yes, combined. Accessable and easy to follow too) and see if it can do what I want it to do and how much work that would require.

If anyone else has any better suggestions, I'll look into it.
Meanwhile, I'll see if Barnes and Nobles has This Book (PHP and MySQL for Dummies)
That's about it.

Hasta.
