An "Eh" Day
Jul. 6th, 2003 05:15 amThings started out pretty good today. Really, they did.
As mentioned,
ecwoodburn stayed the morning here.
Cuddling is a good start to a morning.
We had some fun until she left at 10:30.
At first, we did something stupid that scared us silly.
Mom turned the car on and started to go into reverse.. but she wasn't in reverse.. she was in neutral and we went backwards, but not forwards. At first we panic..why aren't we going forward? Then I'm like "Mom, restart the car. I bet it didn't catch.' She does, it did and we head towards Canada.
We'd gone to Canada to go do the sit around the Beach, Swim, maybe get onto the boat thing.
Not that that's terrible exciting. I just sit around for hours reading, occasionally talking to people etc.
But it's slightly more exciting than what I did today.. staying at grandma's house, reading, a little talking, mostly sleeping.
The weather never cleared enough to go to the beach and it was too windy.
So, we wait there until about 5:30, then head to the Can-Am Festival.
A little history there..
The Can-Am festival is, nominally, the Independence Days Party, usually the first Saturday after the fouth (since so many members of this beach are American). In previous years there were.... bonfires, fireworks, kids racing for prizes (you know, the cheap cute stuff kids love :) ) and it was really extraordinary fun.
For the last three years, it's been a dinner up in the clubhouse. Last year they brought back the races, but not much else.
This year, they didn't even get any of that right.
They forgot one of the main courses to dinner (chicken) and it was an HOUR late. No desert either. Really it was a pretty crappy dinner.. the pizza was cold, the rolls they used for the roast beef had something in it that left a.. lasting but not good impression in my mouth.
Bah.
So I start walking home (because the chairs were uncomfortable, the food.. lackluster and I wasn't feeling friendlysocial) and... it's raining. It didn't rain long enough, but did rain hard enough to soak me pretty well.
Actually, except for the fact that the humidity shot waaaay up, that was kinda nice. It helped cool me off and the rain was fairly warm (better than cold rain)
Read "American Gods" (GOOD BOOK, By the way. If you're into Fantasy books and haven't read "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman, I suggest you pick it up :) ) for about half an hour until mom and grandma returned. Then we went home.
Got into Buffalo pretty early, so mom and I are like "Well, we want to go see The Hulk. Let's Go!"
So, I spend about 50 minutes checking email, LJ, Chaotic etc.
And off we go to see 'The Hulk'
Let me start by saying this.. I don't often agree with
dustkitten about movies or music and such, but I have to agree with her on this: Hulk was disappointingly terrible. I mean.. it was bad.
First off, the cinematography... way way way too confusing. I think it was done to look like a comic book... it succeeded making The Hulk look very comic-bookish.. but it was too confusing on the screen, at least for me. Not only that, but the plot was.. entierly confusing and too cliched. (What's supposed to be the connection between the main male and female characters? How did Dad Banner manage to make the kind of... explosion he made in the beginning of the movie. How did he survive the end?).
Anyways... it was really a disappointment to me and I don't plan on getting that when it comes out.
Actually this link leads to the one review I've seen (pretty sure
dustkitten saw it too as i recognize her quoting part to me. Especially look at the bottom half.
Terminator 3, on the other hand.. saw that Thursday night and it KICKED ASS! :D
Anyways... we came home about 12:30 and I went right to bed which is where I'll be again asap :D
