Riiight. The weekend.
It was a GOOD weekend. :)
Saturday, I did my taxes. This year was beginning to look like a nightmare and I really did fear the worst, what with having to file both federal tax and *TWO* state taxes this year. Every year, I owe New York money and I was afraid I was going to owe the feds money too.
Not so, as it turns out.
But first let me say: Yay for TurboTax! I usually do the 1040EZ Phone-in tax thing... I give my W-2 information and they give me standard deductions. But I made over $30,000 and I was sure I'd end up owing instead of being owed.
Not so!
Between being able to discount interest owed on my student loans, plus moving expenses (I was reimbursed, but as part of my pay (it's shown up on my W-2), so I got it back!
As it turns out.. EVERYONE gives me money back.. the feds give me back about $600, $90 or so, I believe, from MD and.. $1 from NY (the only amount of State Tax I gave to NY while working at Bed, Bath and Beyond, I believe.)
So that's a huge yay :)
I promsied I'd put it all away for the move. I do feel better about that.
Also, Saturday was the day to clean up my house.. so we vacuumed my floors and mopped my kitchen and bathroom and it doesn't sparkle, but it DOES look noticably cleaner :)
And then.. well.. backing up, K and I decided we needed more games the two of us could enjoy together... so we wandered through Target. She suggested Scrabble.. so for $6 we got Scrabble.. and then I say Yahtzee and suggested that. So we got both.
Saturday we played Yahtzee. K enjoys playing Yahtzee. I think I've hooked her ;D
Good times for all :D
Sunday... the big yay about Sunday was going out into the beautiful 70 degree weather.. with, as far as we can tell, nearly everyone else in the world, to the D.C. Cherry Blossom Festival.
The trees were beautiful. The weather was gorgeous. We even got to fly a kite K had bought :D :D :D
It's good to know that.. just because I'm 30.. and have a full time job and am living, more or less, under my own budget.. it's good to know that I don't HAVE to grow up and I can act like a kid if I want to.
Though the major surprise was K acting like a bouncing five year old. This doesn't happen much. I suspect I understand why, but K isn't one for acting particularly immature often, so it was most amusing (and a huge turn on) to see her smiling and bouncing and acting ALIVE and YOUNG and.. childlike while she had great fun flying her kite :)
And we got pictures! We're bad about remembering the camera when we go out and have fun, but this time we have pictures of the trees, the kite.. and us! :D
So.. yes...weekend good :)
That's all. Back to work I go.

Date: 2005-04-11 07:27 pm (UTC)Working as well. Making a dollar. DC is expensive too. (It will cost K and I $1300 to get a two bedroom in a nice part of town - We both pay about $800 to live in a one bedroom in a not nice part of town)
How could you eat that muffin? That's murder of otherwise innocent grains and fruits! You BASTARD!
