It occurs that I have been so busy being agitated, that I haven't really posted anything about ME lately. So this will probably a long post. As such, I shall do the decent thing and hide it behind an lj-cut tag

Firstly, Weight and Gym stuff.
I did 70 minutes of cardio today. Before you go and call me a masochistic bastard (which I am), there's a perfectly reasonable reason!
I went to the gym at 9:00 (it's USUALLY quieter then. More on this later.) and it was CROWDED. REALLY crowded. So I signed up for the elliptical but had to wait 11 minutes. So I spent 10 of those minutes on an exercise bike. Then I did my usual half hour on the elliptical. Check out the treadmills... there's a line of two people.. I dun wanna wait for that. :P
So I go and do my Weight Lifting (arm day. Yay!) and check out the treadmills.. the line has grown.. it's three people now (three totally different people. The other two were on the treadmills.) So... it's like.. ugh.
So, I'm at a deficit of 20 minutes of Cardio I'd really like to have to freaking start losing some real weight again. So I leave the gym, eat, work out and hang out on Chaotic for a couple hours and go back to the gym.
STILL too busy, but I wait my turn and work 20 minutes... then.. to see if I could do it (since it's damn hard to work out for this long) I work out for the other 10 minutes, making 30 minutes on the treadmill and.. 70 minutes altogether.
I know y'all care lots.
To go back to the gym... I'm so sick of going to the gym and it being a madhouse :P I know, I know, it's winter... people are stuck inside and they want (and have the right) to use the equipment as much as I do, but again i say.. blah. It's waaaaay too crowded. I had started coming at 9:00 because it's usually manageable and I do have the chance to work out as much as I want, but today it was toooo crowded again :P
Blah. Blah. Blah.
To add to that, like I said, it's really hard to jog a full half-hour. I really want to, I honestly do, but I just get all pooped out. So I get off to get a drink and sit down a min and, of course, it's in use by the time I get back. Oddly, I've noticed it seems easier to jog on the two new treadmills they just brought in. I'm not certain why: if it's simply because it's a newer treadmill with a smoother "ride" or because the outjuttings are higher up giving me more arm room or something, but I can jog longer on those treadmills. *shrug*
I can't imagine how [livejournal.com profile] twgan deals with it. I know she's in the gym twice or thrice as long as I am. Surely, she sees the same things I do. Then again, she's also probably spending more time doing weight lifting since, when I last heard, she was going to enter some bodybuilding contest.
I wonder how she's doing with that. I should ask.
I'd never enter a bodybuilding contest. I just doubt I'd ever look that muscular. I'm in the gym with people who obviously have been working out for years, they really look RIPPED. They can wear muscle shirts and look decent in them. I dunno if I ever would.

In other semi-good news, I've started to foray into the realm of free weights. Most of last week, I spent some part of my arm workouts using a real bench press, a real shoulder press and real barbells. I feel like a bit of a freak using it. I've gotten used to the machines, so I actually have an idea on how to use them (I'm not sure my form is perfect, but at least I know how to use the machines!) the freeweights are different.. first of all, being new to the free weights, I don't have the smooth, even motions yer supposed to have as you lift the weights. They bobble around a little and my motions are jerky. I'm not sure if I'll ever have smooth, even motions but I'll keep y'all informed.
So, anyways, as I was saying, on the dieting front, I feel like I'm making progress but it's not showing. The reading seem to remain around 255 but I just found out I could squeeze into the next hole on my belt. This suggests that maybe I'm losing the weight and possibly playing with the free weights is helping to build the muscles (my triceps and biceps ARE beginning to look pretty sweet, if I may say so.)
To be honest, i've had a hard time eating right. It's been a problem for a couple weeks. I just want to eat. I've been in a bit of an ennui for a while (probably my SAD) that has me eating more than I should and sleeping alot (also possibly helped by the new stress of jogging which really DOES wear me out once the endorphins wear out.) I've been eating too many sweets again. I've tried to watch it. Honestly, I have. I went out and bought a couple 8-packs of gum so that I had something else to chew on besides just food, but I know that I've been abusing my sweets consumption too much.
Perfect example, I just got a big jar of Jelly Belly Jellybeans. They're a favorite sweet. Each bean contains APPROXIMATELY 4 calories. When I first started my diet, I had Jelly Bellies too and I ate a couple per day. Now I eat about a handful. I don't think it's because they're there as much as I just spend alot of my time downstairs eating SOMETHING while I'm on the computer. =/
Spring is coming. Hopefully, with spring my SAD and Ennui disappear and I'll have an easier time staying on track. Hopefully. Luckily, it's not that I'm gaining weight, just that I'm having trouble losing more!
So, anyways, it's Monday which means it's time to post my weight. There's something to say here as well. Over the weekend, on Saturday AND Sunday, my weight was down to 254.5.. today, weighing myself 2 hours earlier than I did Saturday and Sunday (to be at school early and try to work out) and my weight was 255.5. Now, the thing is.. given you weight is as much a function of what you have in your digestive system as much as your muscle and fat weight, it's totally possible that that 2 hours made all the difference. In two hours, I would have possibly expunged more digested mass. This is why they tell you to weigh yourself the same time each day. So the thing is... my weight is listed as 255. I dunno if it's a true representation. I dunno what a true representation really IS given the circumstances. *shrug*
So, anyways, weight of the week: 255.

Onto other things.
I saw "John Q" Saturday night. It gets the pixie star of approval. I thought it was a genuiinely good movie that made it's point (Anti-HMO) pretty effectively. The basis of the story is the main character is a poor factory worker who has been cut down to 20 hours of work a week. His company changed his medical from major medical to some HMO plan. John THINKS his kid is covered with major medical, and he isn't. His kid collapses in the middle of a baseball game and we find out he has a heart defect and he needs a heart transplant or he'll die. So John goes looking for a way to pay for the transplant.. the insurance won't cover it, financial aid won't help since he does have SOME insurance etc.
The rest you just have to see. Some of it may be obvious from the previews.. others.. not so. It was, IMHO, a good movie and I think the majority of y'all will enjoy it. So go see it!

Have any of you seen the video for the Barenaked Ladies song "Thanks, That was fun." it's sort of sad. To sum it up, BnL goes back to scenes from their previous videos: Pinch Me, One Week, Brian Wilson (I think) and sings to the song. The whole video seems to say to me "This is who we were. Thanks for letting us be superstars.". I dunno... the video is neat, but it saddens me, whether this is "The End of the Tour" for BnL or not...
Speaking of the end of the tour, I know it's old news to you Fru-heads, but I'm still pissed off that Fru is "On Hiatus". They were so good together. Don't break up now, dammit!
And when the hell does "No!" (the TMBG album that WAS supposed to come out last year and didn't, but is supposed to come out this year) come out, eh?
So [livejournal.com profile] dawnstar tried to get me into Great Big Sea, a band that plays Irish music. To be honest, I really like one of their songs "Mari Mac", the rest of it is.. OK.. only OK. I wouldn't call GBS a new favorite band like Cake became.

Well, that's all I can think of to post for this catchup post. I'll leave you with another online test I got off some of your livejournals. Ciao, people.

Letting the free weights wobble a little bit is OK, because that forces the stabilizer muscles to act. You gain more muscle, which burns fat (duh), and you also look a little more cut.

As for John Q., there was a simple solution: move to Canada! :)

Moving to Canada is NOT the simple solution.
Trust me on this. It's VERY difficult to become a Canadian citizen if you weren't born one.

GBS isn't Irish music. Celtic music can be Irish, Scottish, or Canadian (Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, etc.) GBS falls into the latter category, as does Ashley MacIsaac.

I actually have very little Irish Celtic music. Most of what I have is Scottish or Canadian.

Nitpicker! Nitpicker!
Yeah, yer right. Star called it Irish music and I just unthinkingly repeated.

I actually only care for a little Celtic music and only when i'm in the mood for it. I really like the upbeat danceable stuff, tho :)

I have something like 150 Celtic CDs and I haven't listened to any of them in 3 years or more.

Did I mention my CD collection is too big?

Heh. I listen to my fave celts (leahy, loreena) occasionally, but not often. Then again, I don't listen to my tmbg CDs often either, I have them all on mp3, ya see and since I spend most of my time listening in front of a computer or in the gym, the mp3s are the good sh*t.
I have like over 150 CDs I don't give a sh*t about anymore. Some I got for free, some I paid for at the time. I was strongly tempted earlier (yesterday, actually, while looking for stuff) to mp3 the songs I want and try to just sell off the rest. I dunno.. it IS tempting.

I didn't really consider Loreena Celtic. She transcends many genres.

And dammit, she's Canadian too. I need to make a list. I think Leahy may be Canadian too.
