Warning: Free Roaming Thought Post Ahead
I've been thinking a bit about my dream from a couple nights ago.. the one I posted about waves.
I've been thinking about water.
I've grown closer to water over time.
I think it started with Limnology when I saw how much was really going on in water.
It's just grown over time as I took more classes and just learned to love and appreciate everything going on in water.
Heck, look at my description on ChaoticMUX.. I've changed my colors from rainbow-hued to blues and purples.
Water is very important to me. If I could really whittle down what I DO, school and (hopefully) jobwise.. it's water.
Lakes, Rivers, Estuaries, Streams, Oceans, Springs
But there's more.. there's alot of other things that I think of when I think of water..
Algae, Zooplankton, Oxygen, Minerals, Contaminants.
Unlike any of the other five elements (including spirit), water is the most ALIVE. There's so much going on in Water.
Water is the base of ALL life. Without water, there would be no life.
Magically, water represents alot of things too.. it represents the ever-shifting flow of emotions. That's the meaning I know best.
It also represents cleansing and purification. What do you do when you need something clean? Wash it.
On the other hand, if I'm going to explore this topic. I have to bring in fire too.
Magically, fire represents, among other things, change... and passion.
Personality wise, I'm much closer to Fire. I'm, as many of you know.. Passionate, explosive, fiery.
I've always considered myself closer to fire than everything else. I draw my power from fire (the Sun). My aura is, apparently, a blinding light yellow.. much like the sun.
Hell, I suffer from SAD.. when the Sun disappears from view, I get depressed.
And yet.. there's a definite dichotomy.
Because I'm both fire and water.
I'm emotional and intuitve. I'm passionate and, to a point, everchanging.
And somehow.. that seems right.
Here, I am.. my own little dichotomy.
... Or maybe it's just wishful thinking, wishing me to be more special than I already am.

Date: 2003-05-29 09:24 am (UTC)Life could not exist without any of the four base elements, if you think about it.
Think about it, if not magically, then scientifically.
We require the earth. The earth is where we live, where we sow our crops.. it's full of minerals that we need.
We require the air. Some of us require oxygen. Others require Carbon Dioxide. Regardless of which gas you need, air is important.
We require water. Most metabolic processes are done in the presence of water.
We require fire... in the forms of sunlight which keep the entire ecosystem going.. but also in the forms of fire which often cleanses an area of vegetation, but leaves the area ripe for future growth.
I don't know if you need to be strongly aligned with only one element. Keep in mind, that emotions is only one way to look at water. I guess it really depends on what water means to YOU to decide if you are aligned with it or not.
